The national offices of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), A Corporation (“A Corp”) “PC(USA)”, based in Louisville Kentucky, serve with mid-councils, congregations, worshipping communities, and partner organizations to carry forth the mission of Jesus Christ. This community comprises the staff of national entities: the Interim Unified Agency, the Presbyterian Publishing Corporation, Presbyterian Women, Investment and Loan Program, and the Administrative Services Group.

Position Summary

The Grant Management Office (GMO) Strategist/Analyst serves as the agency’s lead for grant reporting, impact analysis, and grant Review (selection) design and management within the AkoyaGo Grant Management System (GMS). This role ensures that grant decisions and outcomes are transparent, equitable, data‑informed, and aligned with Presbyterian Life & Witness (PL&W) values and priorities.

By combining reporting and impact analysis with stewardship of the Review process, this position strengthens faithful use of restricted funds, supports consistent grantmaking practices across ministries, and equips leadership with actionable insights to guide mission‑driven decisions.

Primary Responsibilities

 

1. Grant Review (Selection) Strategy & Management

Using AkoyaGo’s Review framework, the Strategist/Analyst will:

  • Partner with grant sponsors and program staff to: 
    • Define review goals and selection methods aligned with program purpose and PL&W priorities
    • Determine appropriate review models (e.g., staff, peer, hybrid, panel)
  • Configure Review processes in AkoyaGo, including: 
    • Reviewer assignments and access
    • Scoring criteria and weights
    • Review forms and interfaces used to record scores, recommendations, and observations
  • Recruit, onboard, and manage review teams, including: 
    • Developing reviewer guidance and expectations
    • Coordinating timelines and communication
    • Monitoring progress and addressing bottlenecks or concerns
  • Evaluate Review outcomes and methodologies to: 
    • Assess equity, consistency, and effectiveness
    • Identify bias, misalignment, or unintended barriers
    • Recommend improvements to strengthen future grant cycles

2. Grant Reporting & Impact Analysis

The Strategist/Analyst will lead enterprise‑level reporting by:

  • Designing and maintaining standardized grant reports that support: 
    • Leadership decision‑making
    • Program evaluation and learning
    • Accountability and stewardship of restricted funds
  • Analyzing grant data across programs to: 
    • Identify trends, outcomes, gaps, and emerging needs
    • Support assessment of alignment with PL&W mission priorities
  • Ensuring reporting standards and definitions are applied consistently across programs
  • Partnering with Communications, Development, and program staff to translate data into meaningful narratives about grant impact

3. System Stewardship & Data Integrity

This role supports sustainable use of the GMS by:

  • Maintaining consistent configuration standards for Review and reporting
  • Supporting data quality, validation, and documentation practices
  • Identifying system improvements and workflow refinements
  • Partnering with IT, Finance, and Legal as needed to support integrations and compliance

4. Training & Support

The Strategist/Analyst will:

  • Develop and deliver training for: 
    • Grant administrators
    • Reviewers
    • Program and mission staff
  • Provide ongoing consultation and troubleshooting support
  • Create user‑friendly documentation and guidance materials

This role influences how millions of dollars in mission‑critical grants are selected, evaluated, and reported. By shaping Review processes and impact reporting, the Strategist/Analyst directly supports equity, transparency, and faithful stewardship—core commitments of Presbyterian Life & Witness.

Training Plan

Grant Management Office Strategist/Analyst

This training plan balances system skills, grantmaking practice, and PL&W mission alignment.

Phase 1: Foundations (First 30–45 Days)

Grant & Mission Context

  • PL&W vision, priorities, and grantmaking principles
  • Overview of Grants Centralization goals and GMO role
  • Understanding restricted funds and stewardship responsibilities

System Orientation (AkoyaGo)

  • GMS structure, terminology, and workflows
  • Distinction between application, Review, award, and reporting phases
  • Data standards and core configuration principles

Phase 2: Review (Selection) Management (Days 45–90)

AkoyaGo Review Configuration

  • Designing Review workflows
  • Building scoring rubrics and weighted criteria
  • Creating reviewer interfaces and guidance materials

Reviewer Management

  • Recruiting and onboarding review teams
  • Establishing expectations and timelines
  • Managing conflicts of interest and accessibility needs

Equity‑Centered Review Practices

  • Identifying bias in criteria and scoring
  • Aligning Review design with PL&W values
  • Evaluating outcomes for fairness and consistency


Required Skills - Proficiency using the Microsoft Suite (including Outlook, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and Excel) and other appropriate software.

Helpful Skills:

  • Have a deep understanding and commitment to cultural and racial ethnic inclusiveness. Values diverse groups, ethnicities, genders, communities, cultural constituencies and points of view. Able to relate well to people from all walks of life and of varying theological perspectives. 
  • Ability to speak one or more languages other than English very helpful

Physical Requirements:

  • This is largely a sedentary position that may require occasional lifting up to 15 pounds. Requires the ability to see, hear, speak, type, write, walk, stand, bend, and lift
  • Sensory and physical requirements include the ability to communicate verbally in person and through technology and use the computer for extended periods of time. Ability to communicate via telephone, via Zoom, and other computer technologies required
  • Able to read and understand written materials. 
  • Ability to communicate in a manner suitable to a church office environment
  • May require occasional overnight, out-of-town travel
